The Wall Street Journal and few other sources reported that Sony's new gaming console is expected to debut on Wednesday in an event in Manhattan, it will enable users play those games streamed in real time on Internet. The report says these streams will contain games designed for the outgoing which is mainly exhibited in the PlayStation 3. This could be an effort to deal with backward compatibility. This backward compatibility is been enabled in latest version i.e  play station 4  which was reported last month, Sony would "likely"  prefer the chips from Advanced Micro Devices, whereas the play station 3 version uses the  Sony-IBM-Toshiba-developed Cell chip, which ensures a move that could cause compatibility issues with current games. The new report from the WSJ says that the PS4 will be enabled along with the new games stored on optical discs. It's not clear if new games would be streamed as well. Sony's acquisition last year of cloud-gaming company Gaikai may be reflected in a big way in the upcoming PlayStation 4.
Streaming will also help Sony  in some way for addressing the popularity of simple games on smartphones and other smart devices. Few resource people mentioned when Sony bought Gaikai, this firm seemed to offer potential in terms of enabling higher-end mobile gaming features: "Imagine playing a core PlayStation...[game] on your console, then picking the game up exactly where you left off on your cell phone or tablet,"

Sony has announced about the commitment of Gaikai deal in July of last year. The cloud service enables  the streaming of beefier games which are advanced than those commonly played on iPhones and other smart devices , games  like (Angry Birds, Fruit Ninja, and so on). Company’s co-founder David Perry said C that the service was a bit like game arcades back in the day: "You wanted to play the latest machines, but they were $5,000 to $10,000. So you stuck your quarters in."  Gaikai created data centers designed for running any modern-day game, at any settings, and then focused on piping streams to the end user.

The Journals reported that it's not clear how Sony might charge for the streams. It is also reported by the sources that a event is been planned to be conducted in midtown Manhattan next week. This event will provide more information about the sony’s play station 4.
